Manchester United’s manager Jose Mourinho is not able to guarantee Wayne Rooney’s future at the club after the season ends.
The captain of the club is slowly being phased out of United’s first team during this season. Moreover, he has not started in any league matches since the middle of December. Furthermore, the Daily Telegraph reported that there is still a chance of the 31-year-old to become the next high-profile player who will join the Chinese Super League as their transfer window will remain open until the 28th of February.
Mourinho insisted that he has no intention to force Rooney out of the club. However, he admitted that the decision would rest upon the athlete. When Mourinho was asked if Rooney will stay at the club until the end of the season, he replied that we have to ask him. If the athlete wants to leave the club one day, then it will have nothing to do with Mourinho as he will never force a legend out.
Rooney did not visit France for today’s match since he has just returned to training earlier this morning after a small injury. Old Trafford’s record goal-scorer is going to be assessed during this week before Mourinho decides whether he will be ready for Sunday match against Southampton.
Luke Shaw‘s hopes to be involved in that game seem slim. Mourinho stated that Shaw has to wait for his chance, since he has to work better, knowing that his manager does not give anything for free.
