CS:GO Storylines From Intel Extreme Masters In Oakland

Intel Extreme Masters’ Season XI in Oakland was a crucial checkpoint on the road to the nearing ELEAGUE Major. Many of the best international contenders will be featured, during the tournament the results have shaken the expectations of analysts and fans alike. Many of the teams saw a lot of changes ahead of the event, both small and huge, such as both FaZe and Astralis coming in with their new in-game leaders. However, it was the Swedes in Ninjas in Pyjamas that managed to grab the Oakland trophy. While this was not such a surprise considering NiP’s strength, they were competing under some unpleasant circumstances, mainly Jacob “Pyth” Mourujärvi who returned from his wrist injury. Pyth was just another player that had surrendered to a hand injury during this year, along with Fnatic’s Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer as well as  Natus Vincere’s Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács. Both Olofmeister and GuardiaN have returned to competitive play, with GuardiaN’s return in May and olofmeister’s return in June. However, arguably neither one of them have returned to the form they had before these injuries. It is still not clear whether this is due to the physical effects of their injuries or the lack of practice from the recovery period, or even the mental effect of not being in the best form or the possibility of being replaced. Although, these did not seemed to have affect Pyth in Oakland, who was benched for almost 3 months between the 17th of August until the 6th of November. In many ways, he exceeded everyone’s expectations.
