Mourinho has confirmed that he has absolutely no intention to sell Luke Shaw during the summer in spite of the athlete’s struggle to break into the United starting XI during this campaign.
The Brittish International returned from an injury absence from the beginning of the campaign. However, he has struggled for game time and made only six starts in the Premier League. Shaw had some struggles with some fitness issues from the beginning of the campaign, and even though he has been back in training for over a month, he is yet to get a game in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old began the season as the first choice left-back, but since there were several disappointing performances such as on the losses versus Watford and Manchester City, the manager sidelined him. Jose Mourinho blamed the England International for the team’s loss to the Hornets, and his long-term absence has raised some speculations about his future at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese manager preferred Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo at left-back in spite of Shaw being fit since he stated that the English International has yet to prove to Mourinho that he is ready to play on an extended basis without making mistakes. However, the Portuguese manager has backed Shaw to get back on his best form and stated that he still has a lot to learn.
When he was asked if Shaw would be leaving the club during the summer, Mourinho answered that he will stay at Old Trafford for sure and leaving is out of the question.
